Speech Pathology
Our speech pathologists support people of all ages to communicate with confidence. Whether you are a parent concerned about your child's language development, a young person who stutters, or an adult navigating communication changes, we are here to help.
About Our Speech Pathology Service
Communication is at the Heart of Everything
Speech pathology is about far more than the sounds we make. It encompasses the full range of human communication — including language, literacy, social interaction, and alternative ways of communicating for those who need them. When communication is difficult, it can affect learning, relationships, confidence, and everyday participation.
At Therapy Hub, our certified practising speech pathologists work with children, adolescents, adults, and older Australians across our four Perth clinic locations, via our mobile service, and via telehealth. We take a warm, family-centred approach, always working in partnership with the people who matter most to you.
We accept a wide range of funding types including NDIS, Medicare, DVA, and workers compensation. If you are unsure what applies to your situation, our admin team is happy to help. Call us on (08) 6384 7040 or enquire online.
Areas We Work With
What Our Speech Pathologists Can Help With
Speech pathology covers a broad range of communication and language presentations. Here is an overview of the areas our team commonly works in.
Late Talking and Language Delays
Supporting children who are slow to develop first words, build vocabulary, or put sentences together — and helping families understand how to support communication at home.
Speech Sound Disorders
Working with children and adults who have difficulty producing speech sounds clearly, making their speech hard to understand for others in conversation or at school.
Stuttering and Fluency
Evidence-based assessment and therapy for children, adolescents, and adults who stutter, including strategies to support fluency and build confidence in communication.
Social Communication
Supporting children and adults who find it difficult to use language in social situations — including understanding social cues, taking turns in conversation, and adjusting communication for different contexts.
Autism and Communication
Tailored communication support for autistic children and adults, including developing functional communication, social interaction skills, and navigating the communication demands of school, work, and community life.
Literacy and Reading
Supporting children who are struggling with reading, spelling, or phonological awareness — areas that are closely linked to speech and language development and where speech pathologists play an important role.
AAC — Augmentative and Alternative Communication
Assessment and support for people who use or may benefit from AAC — including communication apps, devices, picture boards, and other tools that support those who cannot rely on speech alone to communicate.
Not sure if we can help?
This is not an exhaustive list. If you are unsure whether speech pathology is the right fit for your situation, give us a call. We would rather have a conversation than have you go without support.

Speech Pathology for Every Stage of Life
Communication needs change across the lifespan. Our speech pathologists adapt their approach to suit the age, goals, and context of each individual client.
Children
Under 12Early intervention is key for communication development. Our speech pathologists work with children on speech sounds, language delays, literacy, social communication, and AAC — using engaging, play-based approaches and working closely with parents and caregivers.
Adolescents
12 to 17For adolescents, communication is central to school success, friendships, and identity. We support teens with stuttering, social communication, literacy, and the communication demands of secondary school and beyond.
Adults
18 and overAdults may seek speech pathology for stuttering, social communication differences, AAC, or following an acquired brain injury or neurological event. We support adults to communicate effectively in work, relationships, and daily life.
Older Adults
65 and overOlder Australians may experience changes to communication following a stroke, neurological condition, or acquired brain injury. Our speech pathologists support communication rehabilitation with sensitivity and care.
What to Expect
Your First Speech Pathology Appointment
Not sure what to expect from a speech pathology appointment? Here is what your first session at Therapy Hub will typically look like.
Your speech pathologist will begin by gathering information about your communication history, current concerns, and goals. For children, this will involve talking with parents or caregivers about development, home environment, and what you are hoping to achieve from therapy.
Your speech pathologist will carry out a communication assessment, which may include standardised tests, informal observations, and conversation samples. For children, this is often incorporated into play-based activities so it feels natural and engaging rather than like a formal test.
Your speech pathologist will share what they have found and explain it in plain language. Together, you will identify the goals that matter most and agree on a therapy plan. You will leave your first session with a clear picture of what the therapy will involve and what to expect going forward.
Speech pathology is most effective when therapy carries into everyday life. Your speech pathologist will give you practical strategies and activities to use between sessions — for parents, this often means short, enjoyable activities woven into daily routines rather than formal homework.
