Therapy Hub provides comprehensive ADHD assessments for children, adolescents, and adults across Perth. Our psychologists conduct thorough evaluations and provide detailed reports to support diagnosis and access to appropriate support.
About Our ADHD Assessment
A Thorough, Person-Centred Assessment for All Ages
An ADHD assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of attention, concentration, impulsivity, executive functioning, and related areas of development and behaviour. At Therapy Hub, our psychologists conduct thorough, evidence-based assessments and provide detailed written reports to support the diagnostic process and access to appropriate support.
We assess children, adolescents, and adults. Whether you are a parent seeking clarity for your child, a teenager struggling at school, or an adult who has wondered about ADHD throughout your life, our team provides a warm, respectful, and thorough assessment experience — including support for high-masking presentations that may not have been identified previously.
Because every assessment is different, our fees are not set in advance. Following an initial appointment, we will discuss the scope of the assessment required and provide you with a written quote. Contact our admin team to find out more or to register your interest.
Assessment timeline
ADHD assessments typically involve an initial appointment, one or more assessment sessions, and a feedback appointment to discuss results and next steps.
Written reports
All assessments include a detailed written report documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations for support at home, school, work, or in the community.
All ages welcome
We assess children, adolescents, and adults. Our psychologists have experience working across the full lifespan, including with high-masking presentations in adults.
Understanding ADHD
What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulse control, and in some cases activity levels. ADHD presents differently across individuals and can look very different in children compared to adults, and in people who have developed strong coping strategies or masking behaviours over time.
ADHD is not a character flaw or a lack of effort — it reflects genuine differences in the way the brain regulates attention, motivation, and executive function. With the right understanding and support, people with ADHD can thrive.
ADHD — Inattentive Presentation
Difficulty sustaining attention, following through on tasks, staying organised, and remembering details. Often described as being easily distracted, forgetful, or seeming "off in their own world". May not involve obvious hyperactivity.
ADHD — Hyperactive-Impulsive Presentation
Difficulty with impulse control, sitting still, waiting, and regulating activity levels. Often characterised by restlessness, talking excessively, acting before thinking, or difficulty managing emotions.
ADHD — Combined Presentation
Features of both inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive presentations. The most commonly diagnosed presentation in children, though presentation can shift across the lifespan.

What to Expect
The Assessment Process
Our ADHD assessments are thorough, individualised, and conducted with care. Here is an overview of what the process typically involves.
Initial enquiry
Contact our admin team by phone or online to discuss your concerns and find out more about the assessment process. We will match you with the right psychologist and provide information about fees and availability.
Initial appointment
Your psychologist will meet with you (or you and your child) to gather background information, understand your concerns, and determine the scope of assessment required. A written fee quote will be provided following this appointment.
Assessment sessions
The assessment itself typically involves structured interviews, standardised questionnaires completed by the individual, parents, and teachers (where relevant), and cognitive or psychological testing. The number of sessions varies depending on the individual.
Feedback and report
Once the assessment is complete, your psychologist will meet with you to discuss findings and recommendations. A detailed written report is provided, which can be shared with your GP, school, employer, or other treating professionals.
Diagnosis and next steps
Our psychologists provide comprehensive assessment reports to support the diagnostic process. Formal ADHD diagnoses are made by paediatricians (for children) or psychiatrists and clinical psychologists (for adults). Following the assessment, we are happy to provide ongoing therapy to support you or your child with the strategies and skills that make a real difference.
Fees and Funding
How ADHD Assessments Are Funded
ADHD assessments at Therapy Hub are currently self-funded. Because every assessment is different in scope and complexity, we do not publish a fixed fee schedule. Instead, following your initial appointment your psychologist will provide a written quote based on the assessment required for your specific situation.
Self-funded
ADHD assessments are self-funded. Fees vary depending on the scope of assessment required and will be discussed and confirmed in writing following your initial appointment — before any assessment work begins.
Medication pathways
If you are seeking an ADHD assessment to support access to medication, a comprehensive report from a psychologist can be provided to your GP or referring specialist to assist with that process.
School and workplace support
Assessment reports can support applications for adjusted conditions at school, TAFE, or university, as well as workplace adjustments and access to support services.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a GP referral for an ADHD assessment?
You do not need a GP referral to access an ADHD assessment at Therapy Hub. However, if you are hoping to use a Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan for any associated psychology sessions, you will need a GP referral for those. We recommend discussing your situation with your GP to explore the most appropriate pathway.
How long does an ADHD assessment take?
The length of an ADHD assessment varies depending on the age of the individual, the complexity of the presentation, and whether additional areas need to be explored. Most assessments involve two to four appointments in total across several weeks, including an initial appointment, assessment sessions, and a feedback appointment.
Can adults be assessed for ADHD?
Yes — we assess adults for ADHD. Many adults have gone through life without a diagnosis, particularly those with high-masking presentations or inattentive ADHD which may not have been as visible in childhood. An assessment as an adult can bring clarity, validation, and access to the support and strategies that can make a real difference.
What happens after the assessment?
Following the assessment, your psychologist will provide a written report and discuss findings and recommendations with you. Depending on your situation, next steps might include referral to a paediatrician or psychiatrist to support the diagnostic process, school or workplace support, or ongoing psychology sessions at Therapy Hub to build the skills and strategies that make a real difference day to day.
Can ADHD and autism be assessed together?
Yes — ADHD and autism frequently co-occur, and our psychologists have experience assessing for both. If you have concerns about both conditions, please let our admin team know when you enquire so we can discuss the most appropriate assessment approach for your situation.
