Occupational Therapy
Our occupational therapists help people of all ages build the skills, strategies, and independence they need to participate in the activities that matter most to them — at home, at school, at work, and in the community.
About Our OT Service
Helping You Do the Things That Matter
Occupational therapy is about participation. An occupational therapist works with you to identify what is getting in the way of your daily activities — whether that is a physical condition, a developmental difference, an injury, or the impact of ageing — and to find practical, meaningful solutions.
At Therapy Hub, our OTs work with children, adolescents, adults, and older Australians across our four Perth clinic locations, via our mobile service, and via telehealth. We take a strengths-based, client-centred approach, always starting with what matters to you.
We accept a wide range of funding types including NDIS, Medicare, DVA, workers compensation, and ICWA. If you are unsure what applies to your situation, our admin team is happy to help. Call us on (08) 6384 7040 or enquire online.
Areas We Work With
What Our Occupational Therapists Can Help With
Occupational therapy covers a broad range of goals and presentations. Here is an overview of the areas our OTs commonly work in.
Sensory Processing
Supporting children and adults who are over- or under-sensitive to sensory input, including sounds, textures, movement, and light, to better regulate their responses and engage in daily life.
Fine Motor Skills
Building the hand strength, coordination, and dexterity needed for tasks like writing, cutting, fastening buttons, and using tools and utensils.
Gross Motor Skills
Supporting body coordination, balance, and movement — including running, jumping, climbing, and physical play — to help children and adults move with greater confidence and ease.
Handwriting
Assessing and supporting handwriting difficulties in children, including letter formation, speed, legibility, pencil grip, and the physical demands of written tasks at school.
School Readiness
Preparing children for the demands of school, including attention, following instructions, sitting at a desk, managing transitions, and developing the independence needed for a classroom environment.
Emotional Regulation
Helping children and adults understand and manage their emotional responses, develop self-regulation strategies, and build resilience for challenging situations.
Social Skills
Supporting the development of social understanding, communication, and interaction skills to help children and young people build friendships and navigate social situations with greater confidence.
Assistive Technology
Assessing for and recommending assistive technology — from communication devices and specialised equipment to adapted tools and home aids — to support independence and participation.
Workplace Assessments and Return to Work
Conducting workplace assessments, developing suitable duties plans, and supporting injured workers to safely return to their role following a work-related injury or motor vehicle accident.
Functional Capacity Assessments
Comprehensive assessments of a person's ability to perform daily tasks, used to support NDIS planning, workers compensation claims, return-to-work decisions, and other formal reporting requirements.
NDIS Reports and Planning
Preparing evidence-based reports to support NDIS access requests, plan reviews, and funding decisions, including recommendations for therapy, assistive technology, and home modifications.

Occupational Therapy for Every Stage of Life
Our OTs have experience working across all life stages, adapting their approach to suit the individual goals and context of each client.
Children
Under 12OT for children focuses on building the skills needed for play, learning, and daily life. We work on fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, handwriting, emotional regulation, social skills, and school readiness, using engaging, play-based approaches.
Adolescents

Adults
18 and overAdult OT commonly supports people recovering from injury, living with disability or chronic illness, returning to work, or navigating changes in function. We also provide functional capacity assessments and NDIS planning reports for adults.
Older Adults
65 and overFor older Australians, OT focuses on maintaining independence and safety at home, including home safety assessments, falls prevention, assistive technology recommendations, and support with daily living activities.
Where We See You
Flexible Appointments to Suit Your Needs
One of the strengths of occupational therapy is its ability to be delivered where it is most meaningful. We offer several appointment options to suit different goals and circumstances.
In our clinics
We see clients at all four of our Perth clinic locations — Beckenham, Myaree, Karrinyup, and Canning Vale. Our clinics are well-equipped for OT sessions including sensory-informed spaces suitable for children and young people.
At your home
For home assessments, home modifications assessments, and therapy that is best delivered in your own environment, our OTs can come to you. Mobile visits are available within a 15-minute radius of each clinic.
At school or work
For school-based goals, classroom observations, or workplace assessments, our OTs can attend your child's school or your workplace directly. This allows us to observe the environment and collaborate with teachers and employers.
Via telehealth
Telehealth OT sessions are available for many goals and are a convenient option for clients who find travel difficult. Some assessment components may still require an in-person visit — our team will advise at the time of booking.
